Turkish Language and Literature

In our department, the medium of instruction is Turkish.

Students are obliged to attend lectures with a mandatory minimum 70% attendance requirement, pursuant to the relevant regulation (The Istanbul Medeniyet University Education and Exam Regulation).

Courses with 240 ECTS credits should be taken at the end of 8 semesters as a graduation requirement in the departments of our faculty.

Courses with FF, DZ, YZ letter grades must be repeated. Instead of elective courses to be repeated, other elective courses can be taken within the framework of the curriculum and in the same category/type, with the approval of the advisor. Justified cases are evaluated by the relevant board of directors upon the recommendation of the relevant department chair. Courses with DD or higher grades can be repeated within three semesters following the semester in which the course was taken. This rule does not apply to students who are on probation and for students who have passed all courses for graduation but have not achieved the required grade point average. Regardless of the previous grade in the repeated course, the last grade obtained is valid.

Transfers can be made into the equivalent diploma programs of our department within the quotas determined by the relevant board of directors.

Transfer quotas for each diploma program, starting from the second semester and including the fifth semester, are decided by the relevant administrative boards in a way that the student quota foreseen in the OSYM Guide does not exceed 15% for each year the quota is announced.

Quotas, conditions determined by the senate, and base scores are announced 15 days before the deadline.

For the student transfers to the programs that accept students with different central exam scores, the student's central placement score in the type of score that is valid for the diploma program that s/he wants to pass as of the year that s/he has entered the central exam should be equivalent to the diploma program that s/he wants to pass, and must not be less than the lowest base score of the diploma programs of other universities in the country.

A student who is enrolled or enrolled in a Faculty / College can apply for exemption from courses taken and accomplished in a higher education institution. The exemption request is evaluated and resolved by the relevant board of directors, taking into account the opinion of the relevant department chair. Students enrolled in the university have to submit their course substitution and adjustment requests to the head of the relevant department within one month from the start of the courses. Course substitution and adjustment procedures are made according to the current course plan. Course substitution and adjustment procedures are carried out for the unconditionally successful courses.

There are KYK dormitories and various private dormitories close to our campus.

Apart from these, students can also benefit from the scholarship opportunities provided by some private institutions.
